Indeed. Beggars belief that they paid between £200k and £350K depending on what you believe for a guy that might have been free in a week or so!

Some times you have to pay a lot of money to think you have got a good deal and with the track record of our last three managers, they might be right.

Correct. That's why firms pay so much for consultants. Consultants who get their ideas from the existing workforce then present it back to senior management as high powered insight. And as the consultants are expensive, senior management believe it must be right. But if an underling had suggested it, it would be dismissed out of hand.

Carlisle's board now KNOW FOR A FACT they have the right man, having paid a third of a million for Mike and his team. :lol:

I have always found consultants are paid to find out that what the management want to do is the best course of action, they report back on all information that confirms management are right whilst avoiding anything else. Management then use the outcome to justify their unpopular course of action and to distance them later from any adverse results!
